Via the Hazara Motorway, Mansehra and Balakot, with a stop at Kiwai Waterfall, then up the Kaghan Valley to Naran.

Naran → Babusar Top → Skardu
A long, early day over Babusar Top past Batakundi and Lulusar Lake, down to Chilas and the Raikot Bridge, past the Three Mountain Junction and along the Indus to Skardu, with a stop at Lower Kachura Lake.

Day 3
Basho Valley
By 4×4 jeep up to Basho Valley for its forests, meadows and quiet valley views, then back to Skardu.

To Manthokha Waterfall in Kharmang, then on to Khaplu for the evening.

About This Package
NARAN, SKARDU, BASHO, KHAPLU AND SHIGAR BY ROAD
A 7-day family road trip from Islamabad to Skardu by the Naran route. The first day follows the Kaghan Valley to Naran, and the second crosses Babusar Top and runs down the Indus to Skardu, with the mountain scenery changing all the way.
In Baltistan you spend a day in the green Basho Valley, see Manthokha Waterfall in Kharmang, stay a night in Khaplu, and visit the Sarfaranga Cold Desert, Shigar Fort and the Amburiq Mosque before heading back to Naran and home.
A private vehicle with an experienced driver, fuel, tolls and parking, and six nights in hotels in Naran, Skardu, Khaplu and Shigar are included. The price is for two adults and two children under six. The road over Babusar Top is open in summer only.

No. Basho Valley needs a 4×4 jeep, which is hired locally in Skardu.
In summer, usually June to September, when Babusar Top is open. Outside those months the Naran route is closed by snow, and we can plan the trip on the Karakoram Highway via Besham instead.
Stay hydrated, carry dried apricots and keep any regular medicines with you. If you have breathing problems, take the high passes and Deosai at an easy pace.
