Day 1
Skardu → Soq Valley
Fly to Skardu from Islamabad, Lahore or Karachi and visit Soq Valley and its streams, Upper Kachura Lake for boating and the lake and garden at Lower Kachura.

Day 2
Basho Valley or Deosai Plains
Choose Basho Valley, about 45 km and 3 to 3.5 hours away, for fishing, horse riding, camping and the Chocolate Rocks — or a full day on the 4×4 track to the Deosai Plains via Sadpara Lake, Ali Malik Top, Bara Pani and Kala Pani to Sheosar Lake, with a chance to see ibex, musk deer and brown bears.

Khaplu Valley
An early drive to Khaplu for Khaplu Palace, the Chaqchan Mosque, Khanqah-e-Moalla and Crystal Lake at Saling, with refreshments at Serena Khaplu, a trout farm and wildflowers.

Manthoka Waterfall → Shigar Valley
Visit Manthoka Waterfall, then Shigar — Shigar Fort, the Amburiq and Khilngrong mosques, the Sarfaranga cold desert and, time permitting, Blind Lake.

Katpana → Skardu Airport
Visit Katpana Lake and desert, just behind the airport, then fly home to Islamabad, Lahore or Karachi. End of tour.

Deosai opens after June and is covered in snow until then. It starts after Sadpara Lake at the Sadpara checkpost, at around 13,500 feet.
Children can visit Sheosar Lake. Deosai is one of the highest plateaus in the world, so elderly travellers and heart patients are better to stop at Ali Malik Top. Carry dried apricots for the altitude.
