How do we reach Ratti Gali Lake?

A jeep takes you on the off-road track to the Ratti Gali base camp, then it’s a short hike or a horse ride to the lake. The jeep is hired locally and isn’t included. The track is usually open in summer only.

We live in Karachi or Lahore. How do we join?

Travel to Islamabad or Rawalpindi by air or by road, and we’ll pick you up there. Travel to Islamabad is not included in the package.

When is the best time for this tour?

March to October. From December to February snow usually closes the road beyond Sharda, so Kel, Arang Kel and Taobat can’t be reached.

Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1

Islamabad → Muzaffarabad → Pir Chinasi

An early start through Murree to Kohala Kashmir Point for refreshments and Dulai Waterfall. Lunch in Muzaffarabad after a 3 to 4 hour drive, then Pir Chinasi in the evening.

Overnight Muzaffarabad

Day 2

Muzaffarabad → Keran

Into Neelum Valley past Panjgran and Dhani waterfalls, Kundal Shahi and Athmuqam, with stops for views and photos, to Keran.

Overnight Keran

Day 3

Ratti Gali Lake

A 4×4 ride on the off-road track, then a hike or a horse ride to Ratti Gali Lake. Return to Keran.

Day 4

Keran → Sharda → Kel

An early start past Dosut and Khawaja Seri to Sharda for river rafting and boating, then on to Kel to explore.

Day 5

Kel → Taobat

Through Janawai, Phulawai, Sardari, Halmat, Nikro and Karimabad to Taobat.

Overnight Taobat

Day 6

Taobat → Kutton

Drive back down the valley to Kutton.

Overnight Jagran Resort, Kutton

Kutton → Islamabad

Return to Islamabad or Rawalpindi. End of tour.
